Canopius Travel Claims Update
CLAIMS AS A RESULT OF THE ICELAND VOLCANIC ERUPTION:
From midday Thursday 15 April 2010 all flights were grounded and not permitted to fly in UK controlled airspace. Although airspace briefly re-opended on Tuesday 4 May 2010 the Civil Aviation Authority took the decision to implement a no-fly zone in the west of Scotland and Northern Ireland, including the Western Isles. Since this date there has been further airport closures and grounding of flights.
Providing you did not book your trip when it was known that there were airport closures or flights grounded, Canopius can confirm that claims that may arise out of cancellation or abandonment following the grounding of flights will be considered as will travel delay claims, subject to the usual policy terms and conditions. It is strongly recommended to check your policy wording carefully to confirm that either or both of these sections are contained within your policy wording and there is specific mention of volcanic activity or adverse weather conditions.
