Congratulations to Kate Czamara-Newton, our Head of Delegated Authority Management, who picked up Mentor of the Year (Insurer/MGA) at the Women in Insurance Awards 2026!
The award recognises the time and effort Kate puts into helping other people to learn and progress, whether that’s in her own team, across the business, or the wider industry.
Kate has been in insurance for more than 20 years. She started as a high-street broker before moving into the Lloyd’s market, where she built her expertise in digital operations and delegated authority. Since she joined Canopius three years ago, her team has grown by 50% and now oversees around 900 delegated facilities up from around 650.
Over the past year, Kate has combined technical training, structured mentoring and hands-on coaching, and several of her team members have since been promoted into more senior roles. She has also brought in AI tools to automate admin-heavy tasks, freeing up the team’s time for learning and development, and run AI sessions for colleagues in other teams to help them upskill.
Outside of her day job, Kate mentors people who are new to the industry or returning to it, through both Lloyd’s and Canopius programmes. She’s an LMF Ambassador and was named an iCan Role Model for 2025 – supporting women through career changes and helping them find the confidence to take the next step.
In Kate’s words: “Mentoring is about giving people the skills and confidence to stand on their own two feet. I didn’t come into the market the traditional way, so helping open doors for others means a lot to me.”
Well done, Kate!
