Syndicate 4444 is now the only open underwriting syndicate for Canopius Group.
Syndicate 1861 was the main Amtrust syndicate that became part of Canopius in 2019 through acquisition. 2020 was its last year of account and was written on a 35%/65% split stamp with Canopius Syndicate 4444. Since the 2021 year of account, all of the Lloyd’s business has been written through Syndicate 4444. From 1 January 2023 a Reinsurance to Close (RITC) transaction was concluded into the 2021 YOA of Syndicate 4444. All previous Amtrust Syndicates (1861 and other) and previous Canopius Syndicates (with the exception of 0044) have now concluded via RITC transactions. Syndicate 0044 has not been able to utilise a RITC but has immaterial remaining financial exposure.
