SINGAPORE – March 5, 2025 – Canopius Group, a leading global specialty and P&C (re)insurer, today announced that that Paul Hackett has taken on an expanded role as Regional Head of Distribution for Asia Pacific (APAC), effective March 1, 2025. This will be in addition to his existing portfolio as Head of Marine for APAC and Middle East & North Africa (MENA). He will also serve as a member of the APAC Executive Committee.
As part of this appointment, he will report to Canopius APAC and MENA CEO Soon Keen (SK) Lee and Canopius Group Chief Underwriting Officer Sam Harrison.
In this new role, Paul will be responsible for developing and executing Canopius’ APAC distribution strategy and strengthening broker engagement across the region. With over two decades of experience in the insurance industry, Paul has a strong track record in marine and specialty lines. His deep expertise in the specialty insurance market will further enhance Canopius’ ability to deliver a comprehensive product offering to clients and broking partners, supporting the company’s continued growth in APAC and MENA.
Since he joined Canopius in 2018, Paul has also been instrumental in driving the success of the firm’s short tail lines of business, overseeing significant growth and successfully scaling up the team. His leadership, strategic acumen, and focus have placed the business in a strong position for continued expansion.
Paul chairs the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) Nominating Committee and the Lloyd’s Marine Development Group in Singapore. He is also an active member of both the IUMI Facts and Figures Committee, and the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA) Marine Committee in Singapore. He also became an Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore (IBF) Fellow last year.
Prior to joining Canopius, Paul held senior leadership positions at RSA, Catlin and Aspen where he played a key role in business development and underwriting across global markets.
