Manchester, 13 April 2026 – Canopius, a leading global Specialty and P&C (re)insurer, today announces the opening of its permanent office in Manchester. Located at 100 Barbirolli Square in the heart of the city, the workspace has been designed to support modern, flexible ways of working.
The new Manchester office will serve as Canopius’ ‘Centre of Operational Excellence’, the home of its global operational functions. It will bring together top expertise in technology, data, project management, and operational roles, using modern tools and AI-driven innovation. This centre will promote efficiency and scalability across all Canopius operational, technology, and data functions.
It will mark Canopius’ second largest location after London and will replicate the collaborative and empowering culture it is known for across the specialty (re)insurance industry.
The business has signed a 10-year lease, underscoring its long-term commitment to Manchester and its confidence in the city’s exciting financial services sector and vibrant business community.
Canopius began as a small underwriting business within the famous Lloyd’s of London insurance market in 2003 and has since grown into an international group of 1,000+ employees in the UK, US, Bermuda, Australia, and Singapore.
Canopius already has a thriving Manchester-based team, working from shared working spaces since 2022. The insurance underwriter has had a positive impact on the local community with the creation of 90 technology and data jobs from entry level to senior positions, with this set to grow over the course of the next decade.
