Singapore, 9 July 2025 – Canopius Group, a leading global specialty and P&C (re)insurer, is pleased to announce the appointment of Micia Yong as Head of Property & Specialty Treaty, APAC, effective 4 July 2025.
Micia brings more than 16 years of experience in reinsurance underwriting and broking across the Asia Pacific region. She joins Canopius from Gallagher Re Singapore, where she most recently served as Executive Director, Strategic Solutions APAC.
In her previous role, Micia led key initiatives in retro broking, MGA development and structured solutions, demonstrating a sharp commercial focus and a commitment to delivering bespoke reinsurance strategies. In recognition of Micia’s industry impact, and the calibre of her work across the region, she was named Lloyd’s Treaty Broker of the Year in 2023.
Prior to joining Gallagher Re, Micia also held senior underwriting roles at Munich Re and Axis Specialty, having previously gained valuable broking experience at Guy Carpenter.
In her new role, Micia will be responsible for leading Canopius’ Property & Specialty Treaty portfolio across APAC, with a focus on enhancing the firm’s reinsurance capabilities and delivering innovative solutions to clients. She will be based in Singapore and report directly to Soon Keen (SK) Lee, CEO APAC & MENA.
