Chief Executive Officer, Bermuda
Charles Cooper is Chief Executive Officer of Canopius Bermuda and Global Head of Reinsurance, responsible for leading the company’s reinsurance strategy across Bermuda, London, and APAC. He joined Canopius in 2023 from AXA XL, where he was previously Chief Executive of AXA XL’s global reinsurance business. With more than 20 years of experience in the Bermudian market, Charles brings deep sector knowledge and a strong leadership track record. At Canopius, he is focused on growing the global reinsurance portfolio and advancing the development of its Bermuda platform.
Chief Underwriting Officer, Bermuda
Jesse DeCouto is Chief Underwriting Officer of Canopius Reinsurance Ltd (Bermuda) and Global Product Leader for Reinsurance. He leads global strategy and underwriting across the Canopius Group. Jesse previously served as Chief Underwriting Officer at Validus Re, where he held senior roles across Financial, Specialty, and Marine & Energy lines. He began his career at Partner Re as a US Property Cat Underwriter and Pricing Actuary. Jesse holds an MBA in Financial Risk Management and a BS in Biomedical Engineering. He is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and holds the RPLU designation.
